NBA season is almost here.
YESSS.
The hands-down, best thing about living in Utah is the proximity to Jazz games. Because while they are fun and exciting on television, the crowd at the EnergySolutions Arena is indescribable. The energy is high, the noise is deafening, and it has been called one of the most difficult arenas to play in for opposing teams. It's pretty incredible, actually. But strangely, after having sat in various seats all around the arena (unfortunately do not have season tickets...yet) the best place to sit seems to be the upper seats. While the view isn't great, it's true, the fans up there are loud and proud. The lower seats seem to be occupied by people on their cell phones or reading books. It's very strange.
Anyway... the Jazz are looking great this season. Preseason games have shown a new face to the Jazz: the recent acquisition of guard Brevin Knight from the Clippers, and the ensuing fight for backup guard. After five preseason games, I'm going to have to go with Ronnie Price as my pick. I like Brevin okay, but Price is quicker and can sink a great three-point jumper every so often. But the one who gets my vote for Most Improved over the Summer is definitely Kyle Korver. After some struggle in his first playoff series with the Jazz last season, he seems much more confident and skilled at handling the ball in the games so far.
Can I just say that I am ridiculously excited for this season? I'm excited to see who will stay of the new guys, I'm excited to see what Deron has in store, and mostly I'm excited for my upper bowl 8th row ticket to the Phoenix game in November.
